Andy PLion Country Supply family has lost a great friend and longtime employee unexpectedly this weekend in the passing of Andy Purnell. Andy was a true dogman who bred, hunted and trailed beagles and coon hounds and was a favorite of our customers across the US. He was fixture at field trials and his blue tick DeadRiver Beagles were admired by customers resting in a row outside at our store. His Beagles came to work too and were always waiting patiently for their masters next break from phone sales. We are shocked and saddened and want to reach out to all who knew and enjoyed Andy Purnell.

We  invite all his customers and friends to join us and along with his real family in a Celebration of Andy’s Life this Friday afternoon in Bellefonte pa. Reverend Bob Ford will hold a service followed by food and happy tales at the Undine Firehall.  Let’s give him a real dog mans send off! Cant make it? Please post your condolences and/or your best short Andy story below.

Thanks, John “Buck” Koritko

Andy was a true friend and mentor. He will be missed more than he could know.

what a great guy! Never grouchy-always upbeat. He will be sorely missed by all who knew him. Even the rabbits, though breathing a collective sigh of releif, will miss him.

Working beside Andy for over seven years has taught me many things: LCS product knowledge, customer service technique, and how to help our customers “the Lion Country Supply way”.
Everything I know–be what it may–I learned from Andy. He was always there for me to answer my stupid questions in a patient manner. He loved his wife, his dogs, and his job. He was a walking encyclopedia of knowledge of all dog training products–especially e-collars and GPS tracking systems. We often joked here at LCS that Andy knew more about all those systems than the people who design and build them!
It will take a long time for me to stop missing my friend and not seeing him over there at his desk across from me, smiling, talking on the phone helping a customer–always with a tasty snack near at hand. I will always miss you, my friend. My hope is that you are now in Heaven with “Rebel” and all of your other great, former beagles, running rabbits, listening to the great music and just enjoying the fun of the chase!
You lived for it here on Earth, and I’m sure you will keep on doing what you love in the Hereafter.
    Keep on Runnin’, Buddy,

“Unexpected” is the worst for those of us left, but a gift for Andy, heading out for that next adventure in the sky. May the hearts of his friends and family, left behind, heal by next season.

It breaks my heart when we lose a good one. I didn’t know Andy personally, but his story brings to mind many good men that I have known. I am so sorry for your loss. I’m sure his good friends will take his beagles hunting, and remember the good times.

Our hearts are saddened for all. Andy has served our customer needs for several years now. What a great guy on the phone and answering all our product questions. I have asked for Andy on the phone many times through the years to get his opinion on products. He was always right on the money for us, and so kind.. Andy just had a great personality on the phone and he will be missed Big Time! May God Bless You All!! Love and Prayers, Todd & Rhonda Anderson, Anderson Ranch in TX

I only got the pleasure of speaking with Andy one time. It was in the last month and it was a true pleasure to speak with him!! He treated me as a long time friend. His passion for hounds was so obvious as he spoke with enjoyment about his beloved hounds. We both said we would have to get together to run hounds as our style dogs were one in the same. I am truly saddened that this will not happen in this life. He was an honest and sincere man and that was so overwhelming in our conversation. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family. Lean on our good Lord…he is our peace giver. Take care.

    Covers will be endless….
Temperature will always be, just right….
Snow will be soft, never crusty….
Rabbits will be fat and run perfect….
    Dogs will never get hurt….
Old hunting partners will always be around….
If we do choose to shoot, that shot will be true….
A cold drink, a warm fire and a comfy chair await us at days end…..

Andy has been coming to our field trial at Enchanted Mtn. BC for several years. He always brought plenty of good dogs with him and always seemed so genuinely happy to be there. He and his wife Lisa both shared their passion for their beagles, a marriage made in beagling heaven Certainly one of the nicest men you will ever know. He will be greatly missed, but certainly not forgotten!!! Keep them running Andy!!!

I drove over 2 hours with my family to purchase a beagle pup from his kennel. Andy and I stood and talked for over an hour while my 2 year old son ran through the yard with the pups. Andy helped me with my dogs training and with the purchase of my GPS collars. He was a top notch citizen and will be greatly missed.
