Morel Mushrooms: Regarded as the best tasting wild mushroom and very hard to find. These are widely hunted in the springtime.

My young friend Colton Barger hit the jackpot last week hunting for Morel Mushrooms! They were really late coming up this year in PA and you may still find some. Get your dog and get to tramping in the woods.(tick spray is essential in most of morel country as tiny nymphal stage ticks are hard to see)

Buck’s Tip: We find them more in fence rows and smaller wood lots around farmland vs the big mountain timber (they love Elm trees too!) If you never ate these, you are missing one of the finest wild foods in the woods. Thanks Colton! He shared his largest of the woods with me. It’s good to be Uncle Buck
